What does HotelsSEO do?
We're a specialist digital marketing agency for the hospitality industry. We provide SEO, PPC, paid social, email marketing and web design services exclusively for hotels, restaurants, bars and other hospitality businesses.
Do you only work with hotels?
We work across the hospitality sector — hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, restaurants, bars, pubs, B&Bs and hostels. Our strategies are tailored to each property type's unique challenges and guest profiles.
Where are you based?
We're based in Edinburgh, Scotland, but work with hospitality clients across the UK, Europe, Middle East, North America and Asia Pacific. All our work is delivered remotely with regular video calls and reporting.
How do I get started?
Start with a free audit — we'll review your website, search visibility and digital marketing performance, then recommend the highest-impact opportunities. No commitment required.
Do you offer ongoing retainers or one-off projects?
Both. Most clients work with us on monthly retainers for SEO and PPC, but we also deliver one-off projects like website redesigns, audits and strategy documents.
SEO
How long does hotel SEO take to show results?
Most hotels see measurable organic traffic improvements within 3–6 months, with stronger commercial impact (bookings, revenue) building over 6–12 months as domain authority grows.
Can SEO reduce our hotel's OTA dependency?
Yes — by ranking for non-branded hotel searches, you capture guests before they reach Booking.com or Expedia, converting them directly at a fraction of the commission cost.
What's the difference between local SEO and organic SEO?
Local SEO focuses on Google Maps, Google Business Profile and location-specific searches ('hotels near me'). Organic SEO targets broader searches like 'luxury hotel Edinburgh' or 'best hotels in London'. Most hotels need both.
Do you handle technical SEO for hotel websites?
Yes — technical SEO is foundational. We fix crawl issues, improve Core Web Vitals, implement schema markup, manage canonicals and ensure booking engine pages don't create indexation problems.
How do you handle SEO for multi-property hotel groups?
We build portfolio SEO strategies that avoid keyword cannibalisation between properties, with dedicated keyword mapping, content plans and reporting for each property in the group.
PPC
How much should a hotel spend on Google Ads?
PPC budgets depend on location, competition and goals. We typically recommend starting with £1,500–£5,000/month and scaling based on ROAS. Most hotel clients achieve 4–8× return on ad spend.
Do you manage Google Hotel Ads?
Yes — we set up and manage Google Hotel Ads, connecting your booking engine to compete directly with OTAs in hotel search results and capturing ready-to-book travellers.
How do you protect our brand from competitor PPC bidding?
We build layered brand protection campaigns — segmenting exact-brand, long-tail brand and competitor queries with differentiated bidding to maintain impression share while controlling CPCs.
Can PPC and SEO work together for hotels?
Absolutely. We integrate PPC and SEO so paid covers gaps in organic visibility, brand terms stay protected, and both channels feed a unified conversion and attribution strategy.
Email Marketing
What email automations should a hotel have?
At minimum: pre-arrival (upsell, local tips), post-stay (review request, loyalty offer), abandoned booking recovery, and win-back sequences. Plus a regular newsletter for engagement.
How does email reduce OTA dependency?
By capturing guest email addresses during direct stays and building automated re-engagement flows, you convert OTA-sourced guests into direct repeat bookers — cutting commission costs on future stays.
What email platform do you recommend?
We work with Mailchimp, Klaviyo and hotel-specific platforms. The best choice depends on your PMS integration capabilities, list size and automation complexity.
Web Design
How long does a hotel website redesign take?
A typical hotel website redesign takes 8–12 weeks from discovery to launch, including strategy, design, development, content migration and SEO setup.
Will a redesign affect our SEO rankings?
When done correctly, a redesign improves rankings. We handle URL mapping, 301 redirects, schema migration and technical SEO to protect and enhance your search visibility throughout the process.
Do you integrate with booking engines?
Yes — we integrate with all major booking engines (SiteMinder, Cloudbeds, Mews, etc.) to create seamless booking journeys on your hotel website.
Process & Reporting
How do you report on performance?
Monthly reports covering organic traffic, keyword rankings, conversion metrics, PPC performance and commercial impact. We track the full booking journey across domains so SEO and PPC decisions are tied to revenue.
What's the typical onboarding process?
Week 1: discovery and audit. Week 2–3: strategy and roadmap. Week 4+: implementation begins. You'll have a dedicated account manager and regular check-in calls throughout.
Do you require long-term contracts?
We recommend a minimum 6-month engagement for SEO to allow meaningful results to develop. PPC and paid social can run on shorter cycles. We don't lock clients into contracts they're unhappy with.
